The Anatomy of Performance

Episode 2: What Happens in Your Brain When You Drive?

Director: MARKUS WETTERBERG
Producer: RICHARD TSALIKIS

In the second episode, Gotland Ring, the track becomes a performance lab. Across more than 40 test runs, drivers put two versions of the Polestar 4 through their paces while sensors record their brain activity, heart rate, eye movements and more.

By combining the data with the drivers’ own accounts of the experience, researchers from the University of Oxford explore what happens in the body and brain when driving gets exciting and whether the thrill can be measured.
